service learning project

My five hours of service learning all goes to Tibbott Elementary School in Bolingbrook, Illinois. I went there on April 29th around 3:00 and went home around 8. it was a very long day.  I participated in the Garden Club where i made concrete stones that had little decorations to put in with the kids that also participated in the Garden Club in their school. We probably made over 10 of them. i also helped mix the concrete to go into the molds for the concrete stepping stones. Once we were done with those, we took the already made ones from the previous Garden Club meeting i didn't go to and we put the stones in the garden behind the school. we also did edging, weeding, and watering the plants all with our bare hands. it was pretty funny though when they were trying to water the plants, we got into a water fight. it was a lot of fun. i think all the kids there were pretty sassy in a good way. they were alot of fun to talk to, especially Rachael and David. They were both in fifth grade and they talked to me alot asking me about college. it was probably because i had my Lewis University sweatshirt on and they were curious. overall, it was a very enjoyable experience and i would definitely do it again because of how fun the kids were.

Since source A is an overview of gender issues, there are a lot of similarities. This source connects a lot with source B by saying how they changed the workforce ideas of women because source B is all about the working industry. Source A also connects with Source D because they both deal with equality between men and women. There is also a source that refutes Source A and that is in source C where it refutes how women choose to opt out of the workforce because they prefer to stay at home. Whereas, in source A, we are trying to get women equality to persuade them to go into the workforce now. Source A helps the reader understand the sources better because this source is an overview of all the problems with women in the workforce, including what we can do to solve it.

In this source, The World Bank article talks about the issues for women, mainly concerning gender equality issues. The article relates that to discrimination and deprivations that prevent women of all ages from portraying their talent out into the business world. According to The World Bank, they plan on obliterating poverty by establishing first, women equality around the world and then making more professional jobs available to women. The World Bank is an organization that solves the world’s problems. Their intended audience is intellectual individuals who are in the range of high school students and senior citizens. This source is also one of my main sources that I will go off of for my main idea. My main idea for my paper is how the workforce still sticks to the rules that are at a disadvantage for women.

This video off of YouTube talks about how the fact for the average wage for women is less than men is a myth. Horwitz says it is all about the paths women or men choose to go for their career. He also points out solutions for both genders to equally respect each other. He talks about how women should lean towards career paths for science and math, while men should pay more attention and provide more work around the house for their kids. Steve Horwitz is a professor at St. Lawrence University and is sponsored by Learn Liberty. Learn Liberty is an educational channel that focuses on the big questions about society and what makes it free and prosperous. This source will help me with my rebuttal when I talk about how it’s not all about sexism.

In this article, written by Bernie Jones, he writes that women aren’t all meant for the business industry. In fact, some women just want to be home with their family as a job. He talks about how women want to maintain their feminine role in the household in order to please their husbands who come home from work. Bernie Jones is an assistant professor at the University of Massachusetts and has a Ph. D in History and J.D. in Law. He has over 10 achievements in awards and prizes. I plan to use this source also as my rebuttal, but this one I will mostly refer to.

In this article, the main focus is the equality of women in the workplace. It portrays more facts when women would eventually get the rights they deserve to work with the higher authorities in businesses. This article focuses more on the future of women in the workplace and how it would affect the economy. Frieda Klotz is a blogger, journalist, and a book author. When she blogs, she mainly talks about the problems for women’s identities and the tough choices women make in the modern world, whether it is for a career or when they are around children. I will use this source a lot as well because she makes references to a lot of facts that are reliable.

In this article, in order to have women equality in the workplace, companies have to change their rules. They have to abandon all other stereotypical situations, and think of women as an equal to everybody else. This main point in the article is to help regulate the norms of the company rules for the women instead of regulating women to be in par with the company rules. Jeremy Moon is a professor and a director of the International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility. He mostly focuses on Corporate Social Responsibility and government regulations in the workforce rules. This source will help me dive into the faults of government policies when it comes to equality for women in the workplace.
Project Proposal
            For my project proposal, I am going to be talking about how women in the workforce can be created at an equal level with men. It is about gender equality issues. Not only will my topic be about the workforce, but how women can also help eliminate poverty around the world, just by giving back more of our deserved rights. One question I will be asking throughout my paper is: How far should women go to get their rights back in the workforce? Should we do a boycott for not working or straight up take over everything? The next question I will answer is: if women were to have equal rights as men, what benefits or disadvantages would there be? This question could go both ways as there are women who are fine with the way things are. This leads to the third question which is: how can those women who are fine with the way things are, help advance in the “man’s” world? This is even when these women are just helping around the house feeding the children and cleaning surfaces, like a traditional housewife. Overall, women have always had a big impact on everyone’s lives. It all goes from giving life, educating life and creating love in our hearts. We are also strong enough to handle ourselves. This is all the more reason as to why we deserve more rights in the workplace to show those men what we are made of. We can strut our ideas just as much as we do in high heels.

analysis of charlie's place

In Charlie's Place, there are two main entrances on opposite ends of the cafeteria. There is one that leads you outside and one that leads into the math and science classrooms. These doors were placed there if somebody from class wanted to get a bit to eat in order to refuel their brain before the next class, or if somebody just came to campus to wake up for the day. There are also lots of tables in order to accommodate the large amount of students on campus. Near the entrance to lead outside, there are tables that accommodate at least 8 people. This side of the cafeteria was meant for large groups to either study or to chat openly. On the other side where the classrooms are, there are tables that are round and can fit 4 people at the most. This was probably meant for students who are just chilling for the next class or just to talk one-on-one with someone, like a meeting. They can also accommodate students who are alone as well.

Snow day assignment

For me, I decided to do the second option. First off, during my early high school years, I was starting to find what I wanted to do for my career instead of focusing on regular classes that everyone has to take. I started to veer into science so I took alot of those classes. It really interested me and I felt I could do it ever since I took Biology my first year of high school. At first I thought I was doing really well, but my grades said otherwise. it took me a lot of time to bring up my grade to what was acceptable. I felt horrible that I was not good enough for the subject. so, I started to look at the classes to sign up for and I saw visual media classes. It looked interesting so I decided to try it. That was the best decision I have ever made because now I have full confidence to go into that area of work.
